How do We Accomplish this Vision?

Alone we can't. With God's provision and empowerment, we can. We can "do everything through him who gives us strength" (Philippians 4:13).

We also need one another. "How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity . . . for there the Lord bestows his blessing, even life forevermore" (Psalm 133:1, 3).

We accomplish this vision one opportunity, one conversation, one person at a time. We trust deeply a God who can take our few contributions and multiply them a billion-fold.

If I with God's love and empowerment give twelve people this opportunity over the next twelve months, and three of them decide to follow Jesus as disciples, that's a wonderful contribution. If those three each give twelve additional people the same opportunity over the twelve months that follow, then multiplication begins.

If you follow this same pattern, then the number of opportunities given grows even faster. If one hundred or even one thousand people do the same thing and the generations of opportunities expand, resulting in more and more disciples of Jesus Christ, here's what can happen:

This vivid picture of the power of multiplication is the work of physicist Lorne Whitehead. He figures out a single domino can topple another domino 50 percent bigger. Starting with a single, two-inch domino, the 10th domino would be as tall as Peyton Manning. The 18th would be as tall as the Leaning Tower of Pisa. The 23rd would be taller than the Eiffel Tower. The 31st would be over Mt. Everest.

The 57th would get you to the moon!

Yes, giving one billion people this opportunity to hear, understand, and believe the good news about Jesus Christ may seem overwhelming. But your part is like that first domino. And with many others doing their part from a one-domino perspective, multiplication accelerates.

In not very long, we reach the moon . . . one billion opportunities!

If God is in it and we all do our part, this can happen!
